BRIEF TIME LINE FOR TOOLS

All dates are approximate and are based on the information that we have been able to obtain through our research. Additions and corrections would be most welcome.
	The "Stone" was the first tool used by man more than 4,000 plus years ago.
	The first tool made by man was the attachment of a stick to the stone, which created more leverage.
TONG	RASP	SHEAR
The first "IRON" tools made were the TONG, RASP and SHEAR, by the Egyptians and Romans approximately 400B.C.
	The "BLACKSMITH" was the worlds toolmaker for approximately 2,200 years.
	The first manufactured and patented wrench in the U.S.A. was the "MONKEY WRENCH," which was the dominant tool in the market place from 1835 thru the 1870's.
	In the 1870's, the "ALLIGATOR WRENCH" was patented, but this tool apparently was hand made and used 20 to 30 years before that time.
	The "CAST WRENCH" seems to have come on the scene in the early 1800's
	The "STAMPED WRENCH" in the late 1800's.
	The "FORGED WRENCH" came on the scene in the early 1900's.
	A major advancement for the tool industry was the development of the Ratchet/Socket combination, which was initiated by patents in the 1920's.
	A lasting change in hand wrenches occurred in 1933 with the perfection of what is now known as the "COMBINATION WRENCH," (Closed on one end and open on the other).
Like all other items useful to man, there are never-ending functional developments in the field of tools. We continue to see new and more pleasing design changes coupled with modifications that make our tasks more efficiently accomplished.
